FCRA Notice

Effective: July 10, 2026·Last updated: July 10, 2026

This FCRA Notice explains how LotPilot and our dealer and lender partners collect, use, and share consumer credit information when a shopper pre-qualifies for financing or applies for a loan through a dealer that uses LotPilot. The Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) is the federal law that governs how consumer credit information can be collected, used, shared, and corrected. This notice applies to credit applications started on a dealer's inventory or financing pages powered by LotPilot, which operates dealers.lotpilot.com (this dealer-facing site) and lotpilot.com (our consumer site). For our general data practices, see our Privacy Policy.

1. Who This Notice Is For

LotPilot's platform serves two audiences. It serves automotive dealerships and other businesses that use LotPilot to market inventory, communicate with shoppers, and manage leads. It also serves consumers and shoppers who browse dealer inventory pages, contact a dealership, or start a financing application through tools that LotPilot powers on a dealer's behalf. This FCRA Notice is directed primarily at consumers who start a pre-qualification or credit application. If you are a business evaluating LotPilot, credit-application practices generally will not apply to you, but the transparency disclosures below describe how the platform your customers interact with actually works.

2. LotPilot Is Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

LotPilot is not a consumer reporting agency, a lender, or a credit bureau. When you pre-qualify or apply for financing through a dealer that uses LotPilot, the credit inquiry itself is run by the dealer or lender you have chosen to work with, using a consumer reporting agency such as Equifax, Experian, or TransUnion and, typically, a third-party credit-application service that securely handles the transaction. LotPilot facilitates and transmits your request but does not issue credit reports, generate credit scores, or make lending decisions.

3. What Credit-Application Information We Collect

If you choose to begin a pre-qualification or financing application, LotPilot collects the information you provide so it can be delivered to the selected dealer or lender. This typically includes:

  • Your full name;
  • Your residential address;
  • Your date of birth;
  • The last four digits of your Social Security number;
  • Your employment information; and
  • Your income.

We collect only what is needed to route your request to the dealer or lender you have selected. We do not sell or resell this information, and we do not share it with parties other than the dealer or lender you have chosen and the credit-application service used to process the request.

4. Soft Inquiry vs. Hard Inquiry

LotPilot's pre-qualification flow uses a soft inquiry, which does not affect your credit score. A soft inquiry lets a dealer or lender estimate the rates and terms you might qualify for without any commitment on your part and without leaving a mark that other lenders can see.

If you decide to formally apply for a loan, the lender will conduct a hard inquiry. A hard inquiry may appear on your credit report and could affect your credit score. A hard inquiry is run only with your explicit consent. You will be told before a hard inquiry occurs, and you must affirmatively agree before it is performed.

5. How Your Credit-Application Data Is Transmitted and Used

The credit-application information you provide is transmitted to the specific dealer or lender you selected, through a third-party credit service that processes the application. That dealer or lender uses the information, together with any consumer report it obtains, to evaluate your eligibility for financing and to present rates and terms. LotPilot acts as the conduit that securely delivers your application; it does not use your credit-application data to make lending decisions and does not retain your full Social Security number.

6. Your Rights Under the FCRA

The FCRA gives you, the consumer, important rights, including the following:

  • Right to be told of adverse action. You must be told if information in your credit file has been used against you to deny credit or offer less favorable terms. This is delivered through an adverse-action notice.
  • Right to access. You have the right to know what is in your credit file and to request the information in it.
  • Right to dispute inaccuracies. You have the right to dispute incomplete or inaccurate information, and consumer reporting agencies must investigate.
  • Right to correction. Consumer reporting agencies must correct or delete information that is inaccurate, incomplete, or unverifiable.
  • Right to limit access. Access to your file is restricted to those with a valid need, such as a lender evaluating your application.
  • Right to seek damages. You may seek damages from anyone who violates the FCRA.
  • Additional protections. Identity-theft victims and active-duty military personnel have additional rights.

For a full Summary of Your Rights under the FCRA, see the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.

7. Adverse-Action Notices

If a dealer or lender declines your application, offers you terms less favorable than those offered to others, or otherwise takes adverse action based in whole or in part on information in a consumer report, you are entitled to an adverse-action notice. That notice will identify the consumer reporting agency that supplied the report, explain that the agency did not make the decision and cannot give the specific reasons for it, and describe your right to obtain a free copy of your report from that agency and to dispute its accuracy. Because the dealer or lender makes the credit decision, the adverse-action notice is provided by that dealer or lender, not by LotPilot.

8. Disputes and Corrections

If you believe a credit-related decision made through a LotPilot-powered flow was based on inaccurate information, contact us first at privacy@lotpilot.com. We will route your concern to the appropriate dealer or lender and help connect you with the party that made the decision. You also have the right to contact the relevant consumer reporting agency directly to dispute the accuracy or completeness of information in your file; the agency is required to investigate and to correct or delete information that cannot be verified.

9. Related Data Practices You Should Know

When you interact with a dealer through LotPilot, some activities beyond credit applications may apply to you. These are governed in detail by our Privacy Policy, and the following summary is provided for transparency.

Automated and AI-Generated Communications

On a dealer's behalf, LotPilot may place or send automated and AI-generated outbound phone calls, SMS text messages, and emails to consumers, using third-party providers including Twilio. These communications are not always handled by a live person and may be generated or delivered by automated systems. By providing your phone number and consenting, you agree that LotPilot and the dealer may contact you using automated and AI-generated calls and texts at that number. Message and data rates may apply. You can reply STOP to opt out of text messages at any time and HELP for help. Your consent to receive automated or AI-generated calls and texts is not a condition of any purchase.

Third-Party AI and Large-Language-Model Providers

Consumer lead, chat, and message data may be processed by third-party large-language-model providers acting as service providers to LotPilot, including OpenAI, Google, Anthropic, xAI, and Perplexity. These providers help answer questions, qualify and route leads, generate messages, book appointments, and analyze visibility in AI-powered search. These providers are contractually restricted from using your data to train their own models. A current list of sub-processors is available on request at privacy@lotpilot.com.

Advertising and the Meta Pixel

This dealer site uses the Meta Pixel. It loads Meta's tracking function, records a PageView, and records conversion events such as Lead, CompleteRegistration, Contact, and Schedule. It sets first-party cookies (including _fbp and _fbc) and shares the associated data with Meta Platforms, Inc. for advertising measurement and optimization on Facebook and Instagram. You can opt out through our cookie controls, and LotPilot honors a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal sent by your browser.

Third-Party Marketplaces

Dealers use LotPilot to automatically post inventory to third-party platforms such as Facebook Marketplace and Craigslist. If you contact a dealer through one of those platforms, your interaction is also subject to that platform's own terms and privacy practices.

Business-Prospect Data

If you are a business and you request a demo, run an AI-visibility audit, or submit the contact form on this dealer site, LotPilot collects your business contact details along with your IP address and browser and user-agent information, and processes that information through a third-party automation and CRM workflow in order to follow up with you.

10. About LotPilot

LotPilot facilitates the collection and transmission of credit-application information between consumers and the dealers and lenders they choose; it is not itself a lender, a credit bureau, or a consumer reporting agency.
